As per reliable sources, origin of Hinduism was taken place millions of years back. It is one of the oldest religions in the world. It holds a very important position because of its holy books.

As per Wikipedia, Hinduism has been called as the oldest religion in the world. It holds a broad range of philosophies. Hinduism holy books discuss philosophy, theology, mythology, Vedic Yojna, Yoga, temple and agamic rituals. Followers of the religion believe in the 4 Purusarthas which are associated with the goals of human lives. They are Dharma (your duties), Artha (prosperity), Karma (desires) and Moksha (liberation). There are 4 largest denominations in the religion- Vaishnavism, Shaivism, Shaktism and Smartism. Hinduism is the third largest religion in the world.
