As per reliable sources, origin of Hinduism was taken place millions of years back. It is one of the oldest religions in the world. It holds a very important position because of its holy books.
As per Wikipedia, Hinduism has been called as the oldest religion in the world. It holds a broad range of philosophies. Hinduism holy books discuss philosophy, theology, mythology, Vedic Yojna, Yoga, temple and agamic rituals. Followers of the religion believe in the 4 Purusarthas which are associated with the goals of human lives. They are Dharma (your duties), Artha (prosperity), Karma (desires) and Moksha (liberation). There are 4 largest denominations in the religion- Vaishnavism, Shaivism, Shaktism and Smartism. Hinduism is the third largest religion in the world. As per the world population, 15% to 16% are Hindus, residing primarily in India, Nepal and Mauritius.
The word “Hindu” is derived from the Indo-Aryan. The Hindu religion is a mixture of a diversity of ideas on traditions and spirituality which has no governing body, no prophets, no ecclesiastical order and no obligatory to holy book.

There are primarily 12 phases in the creation of this universe. It was formed uncountable years ago by the supreme power Brahma, some 155.22 trillion years ago. The Sun goes into the phase of transition every 4.32 billion years and then comes back to normal state. The current revival was some 2000 million years ago. Looking at these facts, the human civilization was started trillion of years ago. So, Hinduism is trillions of years ago culture.
It is Bharatvarsh where Hinduism is started. The history of Bharatvarsh was very old when the BRAHMAND was originally created. All the Hindu scriptures were written by the sages who were appointed by Lord Brahma and it was some 155.52 trillion years ago. In the Puranas, the divine history of eternal Sages and Saints, the incarnation of Gods and Bhakt Saints, all are described period-wise. These periods were named as – Parardh, Kalp, Manvantar and Yug. Parardh is half of the life of Brahma and Kalp is a day of Brahma which is considered to be some 4,320 million years. Yugas are divided into 4 phases- Satyug, Tretayug, Dwaparyug and Kaliyug (which is our period).
It reveals the true form of Hindu religion which is all about the eternal path of God realization that has been introduced, produced and protected by the God itself. Sanatan stands for ‘eternal', so the Sanatan Dharm means the Eternal Hindu religion.
If it is said what makes the Hindu culture prominent? It is Hindu Vedas. They are the soul of Hindu culture and provide the idea of who is the founder of Hinduism. There shouldn't be any debate on Vedic religion vs Hinduism because Vedic religion is the source of Vedas and Vedas are related to Hinduism.
There are several Hindu scriptures among them Puranas and Upnishads have found prominent places. These scriptures are the Divine powers eternally residing in the Divine abode of God. Brahma (a Hindu prominent God) has introduced the scriptures through Rishis (sages). The latest reproduction of those scriptures was through Bhagwan Ved Vyas before Kaliyug, 3102 BC but their first manifestation was trillions of years ago. So, Hinduism history is the oldest from all the religions in the world.
There are many unlimited Divine personalities living in the Divine abodes of God. They are categorized into two categories- Maya inflicted souls, those who were considered as a God through devotion and God's grace and the other is who is the eternally Divine souls or eternal Saints, they are not under the influence of Maya. These eternal Saints descend on the earth, conceive the Vedas and the Upnishads and several other religious holy books of Hindus. There are various eternal souls like Manu, Ambarish, Dhruv, Mandhata, Raghu and Bhagirath, establishes various disciplines under the Hindu Dharma. There are several other Divine powers who came to the earth in many forms like Ganga, Yamuna and Narmada in the Bharatvarsha in metaphysical form to guide people. In this way, the Puranas contain many stories, events and the accounts of those Saint souls who glorified the history of Bharatvarsha and set an example of a great Hindu culture.
So, overall the Hindu scriptures are associated with the devotional aspect of a personal form of God and these holy books compile all the Darshan Shastras.
You will be surprised to know that some certain stories of Puranas and the Bhagwatam travelled to the West in the earlier days which were adopted as the religious mythological imaginations of those countries. So the religious myths of the Romans, Greeks, Assyrians and Europeans were based on the broken stories from the Hindu mythologies.
There are 4 Vedas- Rigved, Yajurved, Samved and Atharvaved. There are 4 Upvedas- Brahman, Aranyak and Upnishads. The Vedangas are Vyakaran (Sanskrit Grammar), Jyotish, Nirukt, Shikcoha and Cfihand. The 4 Kalp sutras are Shraut, Grihya, Dharma and Shulb. The 18 Puranas are Brahm, Padm, Vishnu, Vayu, Bhagwat Maha, Narad, Markandeya, Agni, Bhavishya, Brahm Vaivart, Ling, Varah, Skand, Vaman, Kurm, Matsya, Garud and Brahmand.
Deities in the Hindu Culture are categorized into Deva (Masculine) and Devi (feminine). Deva stands for ‘a shining one'. As per Vedas, Devas and Devis are related to the forces of nature and some represent moral values. Each of them has symbolized the epitome of a special knowledge, creative energy and magical powers called Siddhis. According to Vedas, there are three prime deities- Agni (Fire), Vayu (Air) and Surya (Sun).
As per many other Indian ancient texts, there are thirty three divinities. But experts believe that there is no fixed number of deities in the Hinduism. A popular perception stats that there are around 33 million deities in Hinduism. They are viewed as emanations or manifestation of genderless principal called Brahman.
In the Hindu culture, we pray God in a SAKAR RUP, in the form of MURTI or statue. A MURTI is an image of God and related to emotional and religious values. Just like a photograph of a person, which is not the real person, Murti is not a real God, it is just an image to remind you about the God. Worshipers are mediated through it. In the Hinduism, deities are prayed in a Hindu temple and a home.
Among all the Hindu Gods and Goddesses, the concept of Triad (Trimurti) was appeared in the second half of 1st millennium BCE. They are primarily associated with three Devas- Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. The other triads include Tridevi- Lakshmi, Saraswati and Durga. The tridevis' energy empowers Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh.
Hinduism followers believe in Avatar which is all about incarnation of deity on earth. As per Vaishnavism, Vishnu was reborn in Matsya, Kurma, Nirsimha, Vamana, Parashurama, Rama, Krishna, Kalki, Vithoba and Gopal.
